Oktoberfest Confirmed For 2020
With the unpredictability of which Smoky Mountain Autumn season events will go on and which ones will be postponed until next year, we have the good fortune to announce that Oktoberfest at Ober Gatlinburg, one of our very favorite special events in Gatlinburg just 20 minutes (or less) driving from Cosby Hollow cabin, will go on as scheduled for 2020!
Here’s what their main special event page on Gatlinburg.com says on the event:
“Dates: September 25, 2020 – November 1, 2020
Recurrence: Recurring daily
Time: 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM
OktOBERfest returns to its Gatlinburg-style roots with 38 days of merrymaking from September 25 through November 1, 2020 as the resort commemorates the 208th anniversary of the popular festival held in Munich, Germany.
The Bavarian Fun Makers Band, in authentic costumes, will perform traditional Bavarian folk dances, schuhplattling, oompah music, sing-a-longs, yodels and more with daily shows and multiple performances every day during Oktoberfest. Special Oktoberfest Biers will be served along with traditional German wurst, schnitzel, sauerkraut, strudel, pretzels and more.”
And from their main page, they detail the changes made this year to accommodate current safety procedures:
“Due to addition of COVID-19 protocols, OktOBERfest will look a little different this year. We will not have the inflatable bounce houses, face painting, and the kids craft table. The band will have a clear partition in place, to help keep both themselves and festival-goers safe. Hand sanitizer dispensers can be found throughout the property. There is currently a mask mandate in place for indoor areas. We also request that you please practice social distancing during your visit. Let’s work together to create a safe and fun Oktoberfest!”
