Smoky Mountain Tunes and Tales 2019
Who would’ve thought Smoky Mountain Tunes and Tales would become a tradition in Gatlinburg? Maybe not that surprising considering tradition is everything there is to the event – when Tunes and Tales is going on, the night turns back the calendar some decades and allows the past to come back to the present with singers, performers, storytellers, dancers and more. We tell old stories, sing old songs, and prove some old ways still have their value today! Tunes and Tales started out in Summer of 2005 but has proven to be a perennial hit and has even extended out into new seasons from there.
“Tunes & Tales is a summer-long street performance festival featuring costumed musical performers, storytellers and cloggers portraying characters from time periods as far back as the 1800s. Daily performances will be from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m.
For fourteen years, this popular six-week event has made the walkable streets of Gatlinburg its live stage, enriching the summer season with interactive, educational and entertaining performances the whole family can enjoy.
The popularity of the program has prompted expansion to special seasonal appearances. New this Fall, the Tunes and Tales cast will perform on weekends in October. The popular Winter Magic Tunes & Tales event, featuring a cappella carolers, will continue on weekends between Thanksgiving and Christmas.”
Smoky Mountain Tunes and Tales is going on right now and continues on to August 3rd for Summer 2019. If you miss out on it, don’t worry – as you see there, another Tunes and Tales will follow shortly in October 2019!
